Co-production at the Yor Community Wellbeing Hubs - working with our community, not for it.

At our Hubs, co-production is at the heart of everything we do.

From the very beginning, people with lived experience have helped shape what our Hubs look like, how they work, and what they offer.

We believe that wellbeing services work best when they’re built together - with local people, for local people. By listening, learning, and sharing decisions, we’re creating spaces that truly belong to everyone in York.

A group of people sit around a table on soft chairs. They are in discussion.

What co-production means to us

Co-production is about working in partnership - not a top-down approach or one-off consultation, but genuine collaboration.

  • work together as equals - everyone’s voice matters
  • share decisions - community members help shape what happens in the Hubs
  • learn and adapt - we try ideas, gather feedback, and change what’s needed
  • stay transparent - we show how your input makes a real difference

It’s an ongoing relationship, one that grows stronger as more people get involved.

How co-production shaped the Hubs

Since the start, co-production has guided every step of our journey. Together, we have:

  • started with co-design sessions
    • we worked with people with lived experience and local service staff to imagine what a Hub in York could look and feel like
  • held regular Conversation Cafés
    • friendly, open sessions where we share updates, listen to feedback, and explore new ways to improve the Hubs together
  • built connections across the community
    • people with lived experience continue to help shape decisions, priorities and improvements

And this is only the beginning - the Hubs will continue to grow and evolve through the ideas and experiences shared by you.

Get involved - help shape the Hubs

Everyone’s welcome to take part. You don’t need special skills or experience - just an interest in making York’s wellbeing services better.

Conversation Cafés

Relaxed, friendly meet-ups where we chat about what’s working well, what could be better, and what the Hubs should focus on next.

No pressure, no jargon - just open conversation that helps guide real decisions.

And the best part? Free refreshments, lunch and cake.
